Deploy Linux to branch devices – a use case with Foreman, Puppet and Gitlab

The presentation will shed light on the installation and management of Linux systems in many locations spread throughout Europe. For this purpose, the tools Foreman, Gitlab and Puppet are presented and shown how the applications can be optimally wired together. The presented use case shows with the concrete example of POS systems in branches why PXE installations of BareMetal machines are still relevant in times of cloud computing.

Timo Goebel is product manager at dmTECH and responsible for the internal platforms, server and cloud offerings. He has a strong background in Linux and network, loves server provisioning, is a central committer in the Foreman project and maintainer for various plugins.
