With Uyuni, there is a new and at the same time well-known tool for managing comprehensive Linux infrastructures.

With its roots in the spacewalk project, SUSE has set itself the task of fundamentally modernizing the upstream project of the previous Red Hat satellite.

This removed legacy issues and added new features such as a new web interface, Kubernetes support, and Infrastructure as Code functionality.

In addition to comprehensive system management, which includes patch and configuration management as well as hypervisor control, multi-tenant capability and cloud setups are part of the fixed functionality of the tool.

Due to its lightweight setup, Uyuni sees itself as a lean alternative to the more powerful, but also much more complex and resource-hungry Foreman/Katello.

With a new optional cluster hub, the tool is now also suitable for managing tens of thousands of client systems – a feature previously reserved for Foreman/Katello.

To enable up-to-date monitoring, Uyuni provides an integration for the popular prometheus and Grafana tools.
