Workshop: KubeOne 101: learn how to use operator drive cluster lifecycle tool

At Kubermatic, we are highly committed to open source. Based on our experience of almost four years of experience in the Kubernetes universe, we have developed an open source cluster management tool called KubeOne. We had the vision, the different Tools we used before to replace with a new, single tool. This should allow us to manage our clusters in a cloud-native way. We wanted to be able to declare clusters as well as our workflow in the form of a directory. And have a tool that provides us with a ready-to-use cluster managed by the cluster API. KubeOne should abstract the underlying infrastructure as Kubernetes does and has the purpose of running in the same way in the public cloud or on-site infrastructure.

This workshop is about how to build and manage a ready-to-use productive Kubernetes cluster in just a few minutes with KubeOne. After a brief introduction to the concept, participants set up a first cluster and simulate scaling and upgrade scenarios. The trainer then shows how to manage the entire lifecycle of a KubeOne cluster. In addition, various functions and use cases are presented.

Tobias is Senior Software Engineer at Kubermatic. He specializes in test automation and continuous integration projects. As a co-founder of the Sakuli open source test framework and the Docker headless vnc container, he aims to simplify the design of the scaling infrastructure. His current passion is to increase the acceptance and dissemination of container technologies in the Kubernetes ecosystem. His new goal is to make the benefits of cloud-based technologies and development workflows accessible to all. Tobi has passed on his expertise at various conferences such as ContainerDays Hamburg and DevOpsCon Berlin.
